Dr. James E. Enstrom is Research Professor at the University of California, Los Angeles, School of Public Health and Jonsson Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research focuses on the epidemiology of cancer and other major chronic diseases in well-defined populations within California and the United States. He is currently investigating lifestyle and environmental factors in several large cohorts, including the California Cancer Prevention Study and national samples available from the National Center for Health Statistics.
Enstrom is President of the Scientific Integrity Institute, an independent organization that he established to deal with important and controversial matters related to epidemiologic research and scientific integrity.
Enstrom received his B.S.(Physics) in 1965 from Harvey Mudd College; his Ph.D.(Physics) in 1970 from Stanford University under the doctoral supervision of Nobel Laureate Melvin Schwartz; and his M.P.H. and Postdoctoral Certification in Epidemiology in 1976 from the University of California, Los Angeles. He has been a faculty member at UCLA since 1976 and Fellow, American College of Epidemiology since 1981.
